The UK’s Favourite Summer Barbecue Food Revealed

The pandemic has meant many of us will not be able to visit other countries yet, but we can still bring their cuisine to our barbecues this summer.

A study conducted by HelloFresh has looked at Brit’s Google searches to reveal which international cuisines have proved to be the most popular when it comes to planning a summer barbecue, and at the top of the list is Greek cuisine.

The study looked at internet searches between June and August and found that demand for Greek barbecue dishes soared by 81 per cent, with 1,600 searches per month. From lamb koftas to delicious tzatziki, it’s easy to see why so many of us want to recreate these dishes at home.

Turkey was close behind, with an 83 per cent increase in interest in June to 880 monthly searches, and Spain, the favourite holiday destination of many Brits, came in third, with the country’s classic tapas easily transferred to the grill. Searches for ‘Spanish BBQ’ increased by 125 per cent in June.

Mia Morley, Recipe Development Manager from HelloFresh said: “Flavours can be the key to unlocking some of the feelings that come hand in hand with travel, so cooking dishes inspired by your favourite destinations can give you the sensory enjoyment of being somewhere exotic – even when British summertime can sometime mean overcast skies and sudden downpours!”
