Top Tips For Cleaning Your BBQ Grill

Thanks to a very pleasant summer and a few pockets of heatwaves, chances are that your outdoor BBQ grill has seen more use than during a typical rainy summer.

For some people, this has led to bottled gas supplies running low and their grill being a little dirtier and ashier than usual.

Thankfully, the extra use of a grill will help keep it in good working order, and cleaning your grill is less of an arduous task than you may think so long as you follow these top tips.

Scrape The Grates Regularly

Using a grill brush or wire wool scraper, clean the grates before every use, ideally whilst it is preheating so you can get rid of the debris from the last grilling. You should do the same once it begins to cool down after use.

If you make a regular habit of cleaning your grill, it will be less of an issue each and every time.

Check For Rust

Rust and corrosion are two warning signs that parts of your grill may need to be replaced, especially if rust appears on the grates themselves.

Check welded joints in particular and replace anything cracked or that has a noticeable hole. Any surface rust can be treated with WD-40 or another lubricating oil.

Do Not Forget The Drip Tray

Most grills come with a drip tray that carries fat and grease away from the meats that are cooking, and to ensure the grill works at its best, scrape any debris into a disposable drip pan and replace it once your drip tray is clean.
