Tips To Host The Perfect BBQ

Spring is here, and the warmer weather and brighter, longer days are a sign that summer is only around the corner. It can only mean one thing, it’s time to get the BBQ grill out of the shed, dust it down and plan a post-lockdown summer BBQ with friends, family, beers, and smokey grilled food.

With a year of lockdowns behind us, and the end in sight of all restrictions being removed, it’s possible the grill hasn’t seen the light of day for some time, so before we plough on with our top tips, make sure you give the grill a good clean first! Here’s our guide to hosting a perfect BBQ.

  1. Tools to help you become a serious barbecue connoisseur

Every BBQ chef needs a proper set of tools for the grill. A pair of long-handled tongs is a must to move your cuts of meat around the grill, and a temperature probe is essential to make sure that everything is cooked properly. Always test your meat before serving it to guests.

Make your own her brush by tying herbs such as rosemary, thyme and parsley to the end of a wooden spoon and dipping them in olive oil before brushing your meat.

  1. Preparation is everything

The key to a successful BBQ is ensuring you have enough food for everyone. A sausage, a burger and a lamb skewer per person is a good starting point. It’s easier to have some leftovers to feed the family the next day than it is to run out of food on the day!  Sides and condiments are a must, as are cold meats, salads, pies and cheeses.

Remember to take meats out of the fridge at least 20 minutes before cooking to make sure they all cook evenly.

  1. Marinate that meat

Inject some instant flavour into your cuts by marinating them. Marinating overnight is the best way to ensure the flavours permeate the meat.

  1. Rest the meat

Once the meat is cooked to your liking it’s a good idea to rest it for a few minutes. This allows it to reabsorb its juices and become more tender. The bigger the cut, the longer you rest it. Make sure the family dog is out of the way first!

The last thing you need is to run out of fuel for your grill on the day, so make sure you’re well equipped with our propane gas delivery service.
