Hot Stuff Ahead In London

Last weekend was a great time to be outdoors, with lots of hot, sunny weather to provide plenty of welcome June sunshine all over the country after a dreadfully wet May.

This was particularly timely with football’s European Championships starting. No doubt many a BBQ gas delivery in London will have helped heat up some tasty food before people settled down to watch England’s opening match against Croatia.

However, it is often the case that hot sunny days are soon followed by some heavy rain, and so it has appears this week with thunderstorms predicted for the days ahead.

Often it can seem like hot weather is always like this, with the British climate bringing a trade-off of a few warm days leading to humidity you could cut with a knife and fork and then a spectacular electrical storm.

However, the good news is this is not quite what is in the offing. By the weekend, things could be looking a lot sunnier again.

This is great news for BBQ fans, with Friday bringing another chance to combine food with football as England take on Scotland in one of the most eagerly-awaited games of the tournament.

If England can follow up their 1-0 win over Croatia with another victory, they will be all but through to the knock-out stages with one more group game to come against the Czech Republic.  An England win could also spell the end of Scotland’s hopes, after the Czechs defeated them 2-0 in their opening game.

That will mean not just increasing optimism about England’s chances of winning the tournament, but lots more great excuses to hold more BBQs.

With Wimbledon starting later this month and the British and Irish Lions taking on South Africa in the rugby, it could be a great sporting summer – provided the England cricket team can get their act together too.
